What Is Birria?

Birria (pronounced beer-ree-ah) is a traditional Mexican stew originating from the state of Jalisco. It’s made by slow-cooking beef (beef short ribs in ours) in a rich, spiced broth infused with dried chilies, herbs, and aromatic spices. The result is melt-in-your-mouth tender meat and a broth so flavorful it’s often called “liquid gold.”

What Makes Birria Tacos So Special?

Birria Tacos are made by filling corn tortillas with that delicious stewed meat, adding cheese, and pan-frying them until crispy. But here’s the magic: the tacos are dipped in the same flavorful broth before frying—creating that signature red, crispy shell. They’re served hot with a side of the broth (called consomé) for dipping. It’s cheesy, crispy, juicy, and spicy—everything you want in one bite.
